Description

Riococo is Sri Lanka’s leading manufacturer of specialty coir substrates . The coconut they produce is of their own production, as well as the production and quality control plant. The harvested coconut goes through a curing period of 4 to 6 weeks, after which the fibers are separated and sorted. This process adjusts the CE and increases the flexibility of the fibers and their durability without suffering any deterioration. The product is then washed 4 times with water and once more with steam, which removes contaminants and salts. This process is called MaxWash and it reduces Na and Cl levels to levels below 70 ppm.

During the production process of the different coconut blends, fine particles smaller than 5 mm are removed just before the product is compressed; this results in better drainage, total expansion, better nutrient absorption and less water consumption. Precisely because there is greater aeration and more availability of nutrients, production increases between 10 and 15%.
